NEXT GAME: North Texas remains on the road to face Sun Belt West Division rival Arkansas State on Saturday in Jonesboro, Ark. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. from the Convocation Center.
- Tony Mitchell poured in 34 points and 16 rebounds for his second career double-double. Mitchell’s performance is third best combined scoring/rebounding outing in school history, and the best since Jesse Ratliff poured in 38 points and 16 boards against South Alabama on Dec. 12, 1992
- North Texas picked up just its second-ever win in Mobile, Ala., on Thursday night. NT entered the game 1-9 all-time in the city (including a 1-8 record against South Alabama) with its only win coming against the Jaguars in the 2001-02 finale (78-72).
- Alzee Williams was 3-of-5 from the free throw line, which marks the first time this season that the sophomore missed more than one in a game. Williams entered the game 14th in NCAA with a 90.0 mark from the stripe. Williams was NT’s second leading scorer with 15 points.
- Tyler Hall saw his first action since Dec. 17 against Jackson State, and finished the night with a rebound.
- North Texas owned the lane on Thursday night, beating the Jaguars 40-24 in points in the paint. NT entered the game with a 30.9-22.5 average margin points in the paint edge.
- NT has now won its last three overtime games, and is 29-31 all-time in overtime.
