Mean Green Recognized For Academic Excellence

DENTON (2/02/12) - The University of North Texas honored 211 student-athletes for their academic achievements during the 2011 spring and fall semesters at halftime of Thursday night's men's basketball game at the Super Pit.
Students with grade-point averages of 3.00-3.49 were placed on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, students with G.P.A's of 3.50-3.99 were on the Dean's List and students with a 4.00 G.P.A made the President's List. A student-athlete had to earn at least a G.P.A of 3.0 in one of the two semesters to make the honor roll.
The Mean Green tennis team held the highest cumulative team G.P.A during the 2011 fall semester (3.48) with 10 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 G.P.A. Volleyball posted the top G.PA. (3.46) during the 2011 spring semester. Thirteen volleyball players made the honor roll list.
Seven swimmers and seven women track athletes posted a 4.0 G.PA. in one of the two semesters. Overall, 22 swimmers were honored at Thursday's recognition, the third-most of all the teams.
The Mean Green football team led the way with a department-high 57 student-athletes being recognized for their academic achievements. Women's track and field followed with 28 student-athletes.
