Future Mean Green Stars Capture State Titles

DENTON, Texas - It was a sweep for future North Texas athletes down in Austin over the weekend. North Texas football signee Jarrian Roberts and men's basketball signee Clarke Overlander both captured state basketball titles and were both named championship game MVP's.
Roberts led his high school, Clarksville, to its third basketball state title and was named the championship game MVP.
Roberts poured in 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Clarksville won the Class 1A state title 65-47 over Mumford. He was also named to the Class 1A all-tournament team. Roberts, a linebacker who signed with the Mean Green in February, averaged 13 tackles a game this season in football and was an all-state player.
Overlander led Argyle to a 31-8 record and the UIL 3A state title in a 44-33 win over Corpus Christi Miller. Overlander was named the tournament's MVP after putting up 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the championship game.
