Mean Green Practice Early At Apogee

DENTON, Texas- It was an early morning practice for the Mean Green football team under the lights at Apogee Stadium. North Texas went through its second workout of the spring and last one without pads on.
Despite the 6 a.m. start, the practice was very active and featured a couple of big plays. Sophomore Lairamie Lee, who is making a bid at one of the starting safety spots, had a big pass break-up on a corner route in the end zone.
Freshman wide receiver Chaz Sampson had one of the best catches of the day during 7-on-7 drills, as he used his 6 foot-5 frame to pull down a touchdown catch. The catch made up for a drop Sampson had earlier in practice while alone in the end zone.
Punter and Ray Guy Award Candidate Will Atterberry, after working out with the special teams unit, used the morning to work on pinning opponents inside the 20 yard line.
North Texas will put the pads on tomorrow for the first time this spring as they hit the practice field at 9:00 a.m. The Mean Green will practice at the Athletic Center practice field and all practices are open to the public.
