DENTON, Texas – The North Texas volleyball team doesn’t have long to bask in its Tuesday sweep of Big 12 foe Baylor. The Mean Green opens Sun Belt play this weekend with the Pelican State combo of Louisiana-Lafayette (1 p.m. Saturday) and ULM (1 p.m. Sunday).
Defense will be on display in both matches, as all three teams rank inside the top four in the conference in opponent attack percentage. The Mean Green leads the league with a .126 opponent mark, while ULM ranks third (.155) and the Ragin’ Cajuns are fourth (.172).
The Warhawks and the Mean Green present the SBC’s top blocking units as well. NT’s Courtney Windham leads the Sun Belt with 1.42 blocks per set, while ULM’s Iren Marinova isn’t far behind at 1.26 per set.
North Texas will be looking for a measure of revenge against the Ragin’ Cajuns, who won five-set matches over NT in both meetings in 2011. ULM and NT split five-set matches last season, with each squad winning on their home floor.
