FORT MYERS, Fla. - Senior Chaslyn Chrismer got things started off on the right foot for the North Texas women's golf team with an opening round of 1-under par 71 at the 36th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational. Chrismer fired her lowest round of the year and is in a tie for seventh place, four strokes off the lead after the opening round.
North Texas as a team is tied for seventh place with Memphis after posting a score of 300. FIU grabbed the first round lead with a 287.
"I am excited to see Chaslyn having fun on the golf course, her 71 was a major triumph," said head coach Jeff Mitchell. "She has worked hard to get her game in shape and it is paying off. We struggled a little as a team, but our attitudes are really good. Tomorrow will be another great opportunity to improve both personally and as a team."
Eji Kwon and Taylor Kilponen are tied for 36th place after shooting 4-over par 76 in the first round. McKenzie Ralston is one stroke back with a 77 and tied for 43rd place while Georgina Mundy struggled on the day with a first round of 87.
The second round of play begins tomorrow morning.
