Softball Defeats Oklahoma State, 4-3

Stillwater, Okla. (3/20/13) - The North Texas softball team snapped Oklahoma State's 12-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory on Wednesday night at Cowgirls Stadium.
The Mean Green improves to 15-12 overall and defeats the Cowgirls for the first time since 2008. OSU still leads the series, 9-4.
Jordan Terry posted the game-winning hit in the fifth inning with a two-run homer to left field. The home run gave North Texas a 4-2 lead after OSU tied the game in the fourth.
Brittany Simmons (5-3) picked up the win for the Mean Green. She pitched 6.2 innings and gave up three runs off five hits. Only one run was earned. Ashley Kirk relieved Simmons in the seventh and struck out the final batter to preserve the win. The save was the first of the season for the junior.
North Texas scored first with two runs in the third. Terry and Dani Hoff hit back-to-back singles to bring home runners from second. Madison Tierney was the first Mean Green player to reach base in the inning with a bunt single.
Paige Kisling moved Tierney to second after she got hit by a pitch. Terry brought Tierney home with a hit to the gap in left, while Hoff hit a hard shot that hit off the third baseman's glove and went into the outfield, scoring Kisling.
Tamara Brown tied the game in the fourth inning with a two-run homer to left field.
Terry responded with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to give the lead back to North Texas, 4-2. Brooke Foster scored on the long ball to left field after reaching base with a double down the left-field side. Foster leads the team with eight doubles, and Terry is the leader with five homers.
OSU threatened with a run in the seventh, but Kirk struck out the final batter to seal the win.
Terry went 2-for-3 in the game with three RBI. Hoff went 2-for-3 with one RBI. North Texas outhit the Cowgirls, 6-5.
