Mean Green Athletes Post 3.03 Combined GPA

DENTON, Texas – University of North Texas scholarship student-athletes posted a combined cumulative grade point average of 3.03 for the 2012-13 academic year. The 12 teams combined for a 3.02 combined GPA during the recently-completed spring semester, making it two consecutive semesters that the overall student-athlete GPA was over a 3.0.
The women’s swimming and diving team led the way for all Mean Green teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.63 for the spring semester and a 3.77 for the 2012-13 academic year. The Sun Belt Conference champion women’s tennis team was close behind with a 3.52 cumulative GPA for the spring.
Of more than 300 scholarship student-athletes at North Texas, 32 were named to the President’s List for having a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester. An additional 49 were named to the Dean’s List for having a GPA between 3.5-3.99 and another 107 were on the Athletic Directors Honor Roll for having a GPA between 3.00-3.49.
“We are continuing to set the bar higher each year with our academic success for North Texas student-athletes,” said Director of Athletics Rick Villarreal. “It is a continuous and collaborative effort between our academic support staff and our coaches to establish programs and teach the importance scholastic achievement and our student-athletes have bought in.”
