BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Mean Green's run in the Conference USA Softball Championship came to an end following a 7-1 loss to No. 1 seed Tulsa in the semifinal game.
Senior starter and all-time winningest pitcher in North Texas history Ashley Kirk pitched four innings in the outing.
The Golden Hurricane scored early, notching four runs in the first two innings.
North Texas struck back with a run of its own in the top of the third inning when senior Brooke Foster, the all-time career hits leader, belted a single to score sophomore Bryana Wade.
But that would be all the North Texas offense could muster as it left nine runners on when the dust had settled.
Tulsa added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to seal the game and eliminate the Mean Green from the tournament.
