With North Texas leading 28-14 and just under 5:00 to play in the game, UNLV took possession at its own 8-yard line trying to mount a comeback. On second down, North Texas cornerback Kenny Buyers intercepted a pass and returned it to the 11-yard line to set up the game-sealing touchdown three plays later.
