NT rallied past Oregon State for its first win since its return to Division I-A in 1995.
In the football program's first year back in Division I-A, North Texas shrugged off a nine-point deficit with seven minutes to play and rallied for a 30-27 victory over Oregon State at Fouts Field on Sept. 16, 1995.
North Texas, trailing 27-16, drove to the Oregon State 1-yard line but fumbled and the Beavers recovered. On the next play, Mean Green defensive end Willis Hudson tackled OSU running back DeShawn Williams in the end zone for a safety, cutting the lead to 27-18 with 6:26 to play.
North Texas returned the ensuing free kick into excellent field position to set up a touchdown with 5:35 to play to make it 27-24. The Mean Green defense held on the ensuing Oregon State possession, and Jason Mills led North Texas on an 11-play, 72-yard scoring drive for the game winning touchdown with just 13 seconds to play.
