Men's Basketball Continues Road Swing At Southern Miss Thursday

DENTON -- The North Texas men's basketball team continues its recent road swing heading to Hattiesburg to face Southern Miss on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. inside Reed Green Coliseum.
The Mean Green (6-11, 0-5 C-USA) are on a six-game losing streak after another tough road loss at Rice 101-79 on Jan. 14. North Texas held a 39-37 halftime lead and led by seven points (48-41) early in the second half before a 23-3 run by Rice to seize the victory. Senior guard J-Mychal Reese finished with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Shane Temara scored a season-high 17 points off the bench and was 3-for-3 from the three-point line. Freshman guard A.J. Lawson added 12 points in his eighth start of the season.
North Texas dished out a season-high 17 assists against Rice after tying a season-best with 14 against Middle Tennessee last week. The Mean Green struggled at the free throw line in the second half going 10-for-26 and missed 19 for the game.
Junior forward Jeremy Combs leads the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game and in rebounding at 6.5 per contest. Lawson is second in scoring at 9.6 points per game and has 18 steals. Reese is fourth in scoring at 9.5 per game and has 59 total assists. Reese has elevated his game in Conference USA play by leading the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game.
2017 C-USA Basketball All-Session Tickets are now available. UAB will again be hosting the Conference Tournament from March 8th-11th, 2017. The Men's Tournament will take place at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC. The Women's First Round and Quarterfinals will be held at Bartow Arena with the Semifinals and Finals at Legacy Arena.

$180 for Side Court Reserved
$100 for Baseline Reserved (Lower Level behind the end lines)

This will be the 26th meeting between the two teams. Southern Miss leads the all-time series with a 19-6 record. The Mean Green are 1-7 in games played in Hattiesburg.
In the last meeting, Southern Miss earned an 81-70 victory at the Reed Green Coliseum on Feb. 27, 2016. Junior Jeremy Combs finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Ja'Michael Brown hit five three-pointers and scored 15 points.
