IRVING - The North Texas volleyball team placed a program-record five players on the All-Conference USA teams, announced by the conference office Wednesday. Seniors Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam and junior Karley York garnered first-team honors, while Alexis Wright was named to the second team and Barbara Teakell earned a spot on the all-freshman team.
Chamberlain earns her second-straight first-team nod and third all-conference recognition after making the all-freshman squad in 2014. The Lakewood, Calif., native ranks second in the nation with a .477 attack percentage and leads the team in kills (318), block solos (23), block assists (81) and total blocks (104).
A three-time C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, Chamberlain was named to the all-tournament team at three of the team's four tournaments, including MVP honors at the North Texas Invitational and Beantown Challenge.
This marks Milam's third-straight all-conference selection after being named to the second team in 2015 and the first team in 2016. The Burleson, Texas, native is second on the team in kills (266) and aces (30) and third in block solos (6), block assists (50) and total blocks (56).
The only player in school history to accumulate 1,000 kills, 600 digs and 250 blocks in a career, Milam was named the tournament MVP at the Mississippi State Tournament in September. She recorded single-season career highs in attack percentage (.325), assists (24), and aces, and set a new career high with 23 kills in a five-set win over Charlotte on Oct. 22.
York snags her first all-conference recognition, accumulating 1,193 assists to date, the seventh-most in a single season in school history. Her 11.81 assists per set rank eighth in the nation.
The two-time C-USA Setter of the Week posted single-season career highs in kills (68), attack percentage (.375), aces (24), block assists (35) and total blocks (37). York had nine double-doubles on the year.
Wright earns her first career all-conference selection after ranking second on the team in block assists (60) and total blocks (65). The Arlington, Texas, native was one of five players with at least 200 kills (229). Wright was named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week Monday after an 18-kill performance in an upset win over Western Kentucky.
Teakell becomes the third Mean Green freshman in the last four years to be named to the all-freshman team. The Celina, Texas, native is second on the team in kills per set (2.72) and is one of five players with at least 200 kills (231). Among freshman in the rally era (since 2001), Teakell ranks fifth in attack percentage (.271), sixth in kills (231) and eighth in attacks (591).
