DENTON - Week 11 of the National Football League season is in the books, and MeanGreenSports.com has you covered for 2017's 11th regular season installment of #NFLMeanGreen.
For the first time this season, all three former North Texas players in the NFL saw action this past week, as Fullback Jamize Olawale returned to action for the Oakland Raiders had a bye New Orleans Saints linebacker Craig Robertson played well again in another Saints win and Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar, also saw action.
Olawale's Raiders (4-6) fell to the defending Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots (8-2) in Mexico City, 37-8. Olawale returned for the silver and black after missing the Raiders' last game due to injury and was very involved. He carried three times for 16 yards, including an 11-yard run, and also caught two passes for six yards. The Raiders return to action next week, hosting the disappointing Denver Broncos (3-7), live on CBS at 3:25 p.m. CT from Oakland.
It took overtime, but Robertson's Saints (8-2) keep on winning, picking up their eighth straight, this time knocking off the Washington Redskins (4-6), 34-31 at home. Robertson had three tackles (one solo) in the win. Robertson is closing in on 500 career tackles, and is just eight away from that milestone after his performance last week. New Orleans hits the road to take on Dunbar and the Rams (7-3) at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, also on CBS.
Speaking of the Rams, they were beaten soundly in a showdown of 7-2 teams, as the Minnesota Vikings (8-2) picked up the 24-7 win at home last week. Dunbar saw action, but did not record any statistics in the loss. As stated above, the Rams host the surging Saints in a matchup that could help determine NFC playoff seeding.
