DENTON — The NCAA released its most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) data Wednesday, and ten of North Texas' 14 teams showed improvement or remained unchanged from last year's report.
The multiyear data covers a four-year period, ending with the 2015-16 school year.
The women's tennis team continued to lead the way for Mean Green athletics with a perfect multiyear score of 1,000, which earned recognition from the NCAA for being in the top-10 percent nationally. It was the fourth-consecutive year that the women's tennis team scored a 1,000 in its single-year score.
The North Texas football program ranked in the 80-90th percentile within its respective sport, with a multiyear score of 979. The average APR score for Division I football programs is 962, and at public institutions that number is 959.
The men's cross country and track and field teams had the largest improvement from last year, increasing their multiyear scores by 45 and 25 points, respectively. The men's basketball program increased its score from a year ago by 11 points, as did the women's track program.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The NCAA mandates a four-year aggregate score of 900 as acceptable for each sport. This year's report measures the 2012-13 through 2015-16 academic years.
