MANHATTAN, Kansas - The North Texas women's golf team is set to compete in its second tournament of the fall season Sunday at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, hosted by Kansas State at Colbert Hill Golf Club, a par-72, 6,235 yard course.
"We are excited to get right back in action this weekend at K-State," head coach Michael Akers said. "I have played at and coached at Colbert Hills. The greens are very large so we need to hit approach shots in the correct area of the greens. The wind usually blows and that can make it very difficult."
North Texas' lineup comprised of juniors Sol Lee and Sabina Pena, sophomores Lauren Cox and Elena Kim and senior Nyca Khaw will open the three-day event on Sunday, Sept. 17, carrying through Tuesday, Sept. 19. The five Mean Green golfers are slated to tee off in round one on Sunday morning and fans can follow all of the action with live results here, courtesy of Golfstat.com.
The 54-hole event will open with the first round on Sunday, round two on Monday, and the third and final round on Tuesday.
The Mean Green will compete against host Kansas State, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Georgia Southern, Kansas, Little Rock, Rutgers and Tulsa.
