Robinson, Williams Earn C-USA POTW Nods

DENTON – After a successful two-win weekend, two Mean Green volleyball players received Conference USA Player of the Week honors.
Freshman Rhett Robinson is the Freshman of the Week, her second time winning the award, and senior Jordyn Williams earned the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week.
Robinson, a Krum, Texas native, notched seven kills in North Texas' sweep of Western Kentucky on Friday when the Mean Green handed the Hilltoppers just their second home conference loss in the last seven years. She scored 10.5 points in the sweep of WKU, the first sweep of Western Kentucky in North Texas history.
On Sunday, Robinson was an offensive force in the Mean Green's 3-2 win over UAB. She was second on the team in kills with 19 and doubled her point total from Friday with 20.5. She played in all eight sets on the weekend, averaging 3.88 points per set.
"Rhett has been working hard to get better in various parts of her game including blocking and defense," head coach Andrew Palileo said. "I'm glad she's seeing some results of for her efforts."
Williams was key in North Texas' win over UAB. She had six blocks Sunday, topping her total of four from Friday. She also played in all eight sets for North Texas, averaging 1.38 blocks per set. It is her first time being
honored by Conference-USA.
"Jo had a great weekend," Palileo said. "Her blocking and offense were very consistent and I'm happy she's being recognized for her work."
Williams, Robinson and the Mean Green are back in action in Denton this weekend. North Texas will face Marshall on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Mean Green Volleyball Center at 12 p.m.
