DENTON – North Texas women's basketball opens the 2018-19 season against Mid-America Christian Wednesday at 7 p.m. inside The Pit.
About the Mean Green (0-0, 0-0 C-USA)
UNT hosted Mary Hardin Baylor Saturday in an exhibition contest as the Mean Green defeated the Lady Crusaders, 75-37. Terriell Bradley produced a team-high 17 points while adding seven rebounds. Madison Townley nearly recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds, as did Trena Mims with 12 points and eight boards. Velma Mitchell also reached double figures in scoring with 10.
The 2018-19 Mean Green women's basketball team is settling into its fourth season under head coach Jalie Mitchell and looking to build off a successful 2017-18 campaign in which the team amassed the most wins in 16 years while advancing to the conference tournament semifinal, a feat which had not been accomplished since 2001-02 when Mitchell was a senior at North Texas.
Redshirt senior guard Terriell Bradley was named to the 2018-19 Conference USA Women's Basketball Preseason Team, and UNT was chosen to finish seventh in the 14-team league by a vote amongst the C-USA head coaches.
Bradley, also a preseason pick last season, returns as a 2017-18 C-USA First Team selection after posting averages of 18.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 steals. The New Orleans native is the program's only player to be named to the C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team since North Texas joined the league in 2013.
