DENTON - Former North Texas men's basketball senior forward Shane Temara has signed to play professionally with the Wellington Saints, a New Zealand basketball team that competes in the National Basketball League, announced today.
Temara finished his senior season with the Mean Green by playing in 29 games with 22 starts. Temara averaged 7.8 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. He had 11 double-digit performances, including a season-high 18 points against Indiana State.
The Syracuse, New York native, also had three double-doubles on the season all coming against non-conference opponents at Nebraska, at UT Arlington

The Wellington Saints have won 10 championships since 1981 and are the defending champions in back-to-back seasons (2016, 2017). The Saints finished the 2017 season undefeated becoming the first team to go 20-0 by defeating Southland 108-75 in the NBL Championship game.
The Wellington Saints fell to 0-1 on the season after a tough 113-108 loss to the Southland Sharks on April 27. Temara scored two points and grabbed eight rebounds in his professional debut. The NBL season continues on Sunday, May 6, when the Saints face the Super City Rangers.
