DENTON - The first phase of the installation of Apogee Stadium's new turf is complete.

The innovative playing surface was put in place this month, with the end zones due to arrive in August after the custom colors are manufactured.

The new surface is FieldTurf Cool Play, which features an extruded composite-top dressing that keeps the surface 35 degrees cooler than traditional sand/rubber infill systems, according to independent laboratory results.
