Fine On Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Watch List

TYLER, Texas – North Texas quarterback Mason Fine was named to the watch list for the 2018 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce East Texas Kickoff Luncheon.
The Peggs, Oklahoma, native, set single-season program records in passing yards (4,052), passing touchdowns (31), completions (324) and pass attempts (511) on his way to C-USA Offensive Player of the Year honors. He had 17 touchdowns of 20-yards or more, six of which went for 50-plus yards.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
The watch list will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to 5 finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 9, 2019.
Fine enters his junior campaign as a member of several national award watch lists: the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Davey O'Brien, Maxwell and was named a player to watch by the Touchdown Club of Columbus for the Sammy Baugh Award.
