Fine Selected to Manning Award Watch List

NEW ORLEANS – North Texas quarterback Mason Fine was named to the watch list for the 2018 Manning Award, sponsored by the AllState Sugar Bowl Thursday, the selection committee announced.
The Peggs, Oklahoma, native, set single-season program records in passing yards (4,052), passing touchdowns (31), completions (324) and pass attempts (511) on his way to C-USA Offensive Player of the Year honors. He had 17 touchdowns of 20-yards or more, six of which went for 50-plus yards.
The list includes 30 of the top quarterbacks in the nation heading into the 2018 season. The winner will be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the bowls.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
In addition to the Manning Award, Fine enters his junior campaign as a member of several national award watch lists: the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Davey O'Brien, Maxwell and was named a player to watch by the Touchdown Club of Columbus for the Sammy Baugh Award.
