DENTON - It's not difficult to see why people once overlooked Mason Fine.
Look at the top passers in NCAA FBS football this year. Nine of the top 10 are of classic quarterback stature, standing an average of 6-foot-2½ and 212 pounds. They were three- and four-star recruits.
Then there's Mason Fine. Who does not stand a 6-feet tall. Who does not top 200 pounds. Who was not a three- or four-star recruit.
But Fine is overlooked no more.
For the second year in a row, Fine is among the nation's leaders in passing and is rapidly ascending the Mean Green record books in one quarterback category after another. He is earning accolades and honors, is on multiple award watch lists this year and is attracting national media attention. It seems fitting that Fine's accomplishments deserve a little extra attention.
To that end, North Texas Athletics Communications has created a website about Mason Fine, www.masonfine6.com. The site will follow his season statistics, chronicle his awards and collect his media coverage, and will be updated each week throughout the season.
