DENTON - The Mean Green football program will play home-and-home series against Baylor and Tulane in 2028 and 2029 and a home game against Army West Point in 2028, North Texas Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced Monday.
"I am thrilled to announce two quality home-and-home series have been added to our schedules," Baker said. "Baylor joins Cal and Texas Tech as Power 5 conference teams coming to Denton over the next few years. Tulane is a quality American Athletic Conference team that will be a fun trip for our fans when we return to New Orleans. I appreciate Jared Mosley's diligent efforts to find compelling games for our fans."
The game against Army was originally slated for 2027. With the Black Knights coming to Apogee in 2028, North Texas will travel to Baylor and Tulane that season, then host the Bears and Green Wave in Denton in 2029.
The Mean Green and Baylor have met 12 times dating back to 1920, with the Bears holding an 11-1 advantage. The last meeting came in 2004, a 37-14 win for the Bears in Waco. The Mean Green dominated Baylor 52-14 on Sept. 6, 2003, in Denton at Fouts Field.
UNT and Tulane have only met once previously, a narrow 24-21 win by the Green Wave on Oct. 5, 2013, in New Orleans in a Conference USA matchup before Tulane left for the American Athletic Conference.
Additionally, Baker announced a non-conference matchup with Texas Southern in Denton in 2022. The Mean Green have only played Texas Southern on one occasion, knocking off the Tigers 34-7 on Sept. 8, 2012, in Denton.
