DENTON – North Texas track and field competes at the Texas Tech Classic Jan. 24-26 inside the Sports Performance Center.
"I'm really excited about this weekend," director of track and field Carl Sheffield said. "The confidence of our young team grows with each competition. This week will be another big test."
Participating teams include: Abilene Christian, Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Miami, NAU, North Carolina State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Sam Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Texas Tech, Texas Southern, Tulane, Louisiana-Monroe, USC, and UTA.
Combined events open the meet Thursday at noon. Field events begin Friday at 3 p.m. with running following at 5 p.m. On Saturday, field events start at 10 a.m., and running is set for noon.
"Last week was an eye opener to what high level competition was like. I think a lot of our youngsters performed well. It was difficult to see because of such great performances overall. I want to see our team continue to focus on our own preparation and be prepared to execute. We will choose most of our Conference USA team from this week and next weekend performances."
