The North Texas women's golf team returns to action after two top-3 finishes and a tough tournament, in tough weather conditions, in Austin last time out. Weather won't be a concern on Paradise Island, as the Mean Green wrap up the fall schedule.

THE EVENT: The Ocean Club Golf Course will play as a par-72 course at 6,415 yards. The teams will play 18 holes per day, beginning Monday and concluding Wednesday, with 7 a.m. shotgun starts on each day.

THE FIELD: There are 14 teams participating in the tournament, with several teams ranked in the top 50: No. 17 Arkansas, No. 27 Baylor, No. 31 Clemson, No. 34 Georgia, No. 24 Houston, No. 21 Mississippi State, New Mexico, No. 60 North Texas, No. 25 Ohio State, No. 41 Oklahoma, SMU, No. 48 Tennessee, No. 3 Texas and Tulane.

REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Lauren Cox, Audrey Tan, Patricia Sinolungan and Audrey Tan, Katie Finley and Emilie Ricaud. Marija Jucmane will compete as an individual.

LAST TIME OUT: North Texas battled tough weather conditions and finished in 11th place at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, as Lauren Cox and Katie Finley led the way for the Mean Green, tying for 41st.

MOVING UP: North Texas has made significant strides since head Michael Akers took over roughly four years ago. The Mean Green were ranked No. 201 following the 2015-16 season, and since Akers arrived in Denton, UNT has soared as many as 123 spots to break into the top 80, and ended last season 112 spots better than when he arrived in Denton. The Mean Green ended last season ranked No. 89, but climbed as high as No. 79. Now, the team is ranked No. 60 in the latest GolfStat poll – just 10 spots behind the best ranking in program history (2010-11).

AKERS SAYS: "We are excited to get to the Bahamas and get back into competition," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "The field will be extremely good and gives us the opportunity to continue to improve our national ranking."

UP NEXT: North Texas will play a 36-hole, one-day tournament against five other schools at Dallas Athletic Club on Feb. 3, before resuming its tournament schedule Feb. 16-18 at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
