Men's Golf Closing Fall Slate in Aloha State

Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational
Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course | Lahaina, Hawaii
The North Texas men's golf team returns to action to finish up its fall schedule in the Aloha State, as the Mean Green travel to Maui to compete against a strong field.
THE EVENT: The Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course will play at 6,700 yards, and will be a par-71 course for the tournament. The three-day event begins Friday and concludes on Sunday. There will be a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m., each day.
THE FIELD: There are 20 teams participating in the tournament: Air Force, Boise State, No. 15 Clemson, Connecticut, George Washington, No. 19 Georgia, Gonzaga, Hawaii, No. 44 Kansas, No. 37 Liberty, North Texas, No. 5 Oklahoma, Sacramento State, No. 31 South Carolina, Southern Illinois, No. 23 UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, No. 18 Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.
REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Viktor Forslund, Kristof Ulenaers, Lenny Bergsson, Alejandro Madariaga and Hiroki Miya.

LAST TIME OUT: North Texas finished eighth at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas, and was led by Forslund, who tied for 13th, Ulenaers (T19th) and Bergsson (T24th).
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature seven international players this year, including some key freshmen who are expected to contribute immediately. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Viktor Forslund (Sweden), Cameron Harlock (New Zealand), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Alejandro Madariaga (Mexico), Hiroki Miya (New Zealand) and Kristof Ulenaers (Belgium) round out the international players.
STRACKE SAYS: "This will be our first trip to Hawaii, and we'll be playing against some strong competition. I hope the guys are ready to finish (the fall season) strong and have some fun on the beach."
UP NEXT: North Texas will begin preparing for the spring season, which begins Jan. 27-28, at the Southwestern Invitational in West Lake Village, California.
HOME SWEET MARIDOE: North Texas enjoys its home course -- the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton. The course opened to members in July 2017 and gives the Mean Green a state-of-the-art home course with world-class facilities, including a fully-dedicated practice facility, complete with a two-ended driving range to account for many varying wind conditions, a sprawling three-acre short game retreat and indoor facilities with state-of-the-art hitting bays that provide tools the program has not yet had at its disposal.
