Mean Green Earn Two Weekly Conference Honors

DALLAS – North Texas volleyball picked up two weekly conference honors the conference office announced on Monday. Freshman defensive specialist and libero Jordan Burks was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.
It is the first time winning the honor in her career. It comes after a career best performance across two matches over the weekend. Burks appeared in all seven sets against Southern Mississippi and Louisiana Tech. Against Louisiana Tech she had a career high 31 digs, which is the highest dig mark for any North Texas player this season.
She averaged 6.14 digs per set across two matches.
Setter Kaliegh Skopal was named the C-USA Setter of the Week for the second time this season. She first won the award for the week of Sept. 16. Skopal totaled 98 assists in two matches, and averaged 14 assists per set in seven sets played. She picked up 55 assists against Southern Miss, a season high.
Skopal also added 23 total digs across two matches, picking up 14 against Louisiana Tech while having 43 assists for a double-double. Her assist total against LA Tech is the most in a three-set match.
The Mean Green return home for a match on October 13 at 1 p.m. against Southern Miss.
