
UNT Heads To Nationally Ranked Dayton

The Flyers (8-1) earned a No.13 rank in the latest poll, which came out on Monday. Tuesday's game will air on ESPN+ and on the Mean Green Sports Network and tuneIN app. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. This marks the first time since 2000 UNT (4-6) has faced three ranked teams in less than two months.
SCHEDULING TOUGH
As of Monday, North Texas' first 10 opponents this season had a combined winning percentage of .656 (61-32). It is the 47th toughest schedule in the nation through the first 10 games and the toughest in C-USA. The schedule gets a little easier moving forward as their future opponents have a combined .515 winning percentage (84-79), which ranks 200th in the nation. North Texas' total strength of schedule last season ranked 219th.
19 3-POINTERS
In its last game, UNT tied a pro- gram-record with 19 3-pointers made. Its the third-time in program-history UNT made 19 3-pointers in a game but was the first time they did it against a division I opponent. It was the second time under current head coach Grant McCasland. The other time came on 11/14/18 vs. Texas A&M Commerce. The 19 3-pointers are tied for the 6th most in single-game this season in the nation.
26 BUCKETS ON 23 ASTS
In North Texas' most recent game, a 76- 53 home win over Little Rock on 12/7, the Mean Green made 26 field goals and had a season-high 23 assists. The 23 assists are tied for the eighth-most in a single game in program history and the most under third-year head coach Grant McCasland. The 23 assists were the most by a UNT team since 2/15/10 when UNT had 24 assists versus Houston Baptist.
TURNOVERS DOWN
After committing a combined 103 turnovers in the first six games of the year (17.1 per game), UNT has turned it over just 51 times over the last four games (12.75).
Redshirt sophomore Umoja Gibson has been on fire the last six games. The guard
is averaging 20.2 ppg and shooting at a 50.6% clip over the last six games. He's 24-50 (48.0%) from long range and is 11-11 at the free throw line. Gibson, who led the team in scoring last season with 12.6 ppg, leads them this year with 15.8 ppg, which is the fifth- best in C-USA as of Monday.
As of Monday, Umoja Gibson ranks in the top 40 in 3-pointers per game (39th, 3.0/G) in the nation and total 3-pointers made (34th, 30).

North Texas' Umoja Gibson has made a team-leading 30 3-pointers this season. Of his 30 3-pointers, 19 have come from NBA range.

The rest of the entire team has combined to make just 37 3-pointers at just a combined 27 percent clip.
After averaging just 59.2 points per game through the first seven games of the year, the Mean Green have averaged 77.6 points per game over the last three games.
FLOOR GENERAL
Redshirt junior point guard Javion Hamlet has started to find his groove as the team's floor general. In the team's first seven games Hamlet had 15 assists and 24 turn- overs. But in UNT's last three games he had 18 assists and just seven turnovers.
