Mean Green Host Texas Wesleyan In OOC Finale

DENTON — The Mean Green men's basketball team is back from the holiday vacation and return to action on Saturday at 5 p.m. as they host Texas Wesleyan in what will be the final out of conference game of the 2019-20 regular season for UNT.
North Texas (5-7) and the Rams (8-3) non-conference finale will be broadcasted on CUSA.tv and on the Mean Green Sports Network (KNTU 88.1FM, KHYI 95.3 FM or KGAF 1580 AM). Listeners can find the Mean Green Sports Network on the tuneIN app. Dave Barnett and Hank Dickenson will be on the call.
Saturday will be the 19th all-time meeting between UNT and TEXWES. Texas Wesleyan is one of the Mean Green's oldest opponents. The first meeting between the two schools came in 1935. The only opponent on the Mean Green's 2019-20 schedule that first played UNT earlier than Texas Wesleyan is UT Arlington. However, Saturday will be the two schools first meeting since Dec. 11, 1984.
JAVION'S RISING STOCK
Redshirt junior point guard Javion Hamlet has started to find his groove as the team's floor general. In the team's first seven games, Hamlet had 15 assists and 24 turn- overs (.6 A/TO). But in UNT's last four games, he's had 24 assists (6 per game) and just nine turnovers (2.6 A/TO). Furthermore, he's averaged 12.3 ppg over the last four games opposed to 8.1 ppg in the first seven games.
THOMAS' LAST TWO GAMES
After scoring a season-high 16 points in the season-opener on 11/5, Thomas Bell scored 11 points in UNT's most recent game on 12/21 versus UAPB. Its the most points he's scored since the season opener. Furthermore, Bell has scored 19 total points in UNT's last two games combined. Its the most points he's scored in consecutive games since the first two games of the season when he scored 22 combined points.
