Draper Earns All-Academic Honor

FRISCO — North Texas redshirt junior DJ Draper was named to the league's all-academic team on Friday as he boasts a 3.801 grade point average, the top G.P.A. of the five-man team.
The guard has already earned his undergraduate degree in accounting, and is working on his Masters of Business Administration, has played in every game this season and helped lead his team to back-to-back 20-win seasons and the program's best start in school history at 16-1 this season.
Draper has twice scored 19 points in a game this year and earned a start on Feb. 16 at Florida International. A former walk-on, Draper earned an athletic scholarship this past summer.
"An aura of euphoria surrounded my body when I was selected to be on the Conference USA All-Academic team," Draper said. "If the grass is greener on the other side, water your own side. I'm thankful for the people who voted for me and recognize the hard work that goes into being a student athlete."
North Texas concludes the regular season on Saturday at FIU with a 6 p.m. CT tip-off.
