DALLAS - North Texas will have all 12 football games broadcast nationally in 2019, Conference USA announced Thursday.
"Having all 12 regular season games selected for national distribution will continue to push our brand and will make it easy for our fans to follow us throughout the season," Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. "We are appreciative of the relationship with our current broadcast partners and the addition of the NFL Network creates even more exposure. This coverage is good for our league and good for Mean Green football and UNT as a whole." Â
The schedule features games to air nationally by all five of the league's primary partners and every C-USA football game is expected to be available on traditional linear television or via streaming and social media.
North Texas' season-opener on Aug. 31 against Abilene Christian kicks off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will also be streamed on ESPN+. The Sept. 7 trip to take on Metroplex rival SMU kicks off at 6 p.m. on ESPN3 from Dallas.
North Texas then travels to Berkeley, California, to take on Cal at 3:15 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks on Sept. 14 before heading home to open conference play against UT San Antonio at 6:30 p.m. in a game broadcast by Stadium on Facebook on Sept. 21. UNT then hosts in-state foe Houston on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. from Apogee Stadium in a tilt that will be broadcast live by CBS Sports Network on Facebook. Â
The conference slate continues following the first of two bye weeks, as the Mean Green travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to take on Southern Miss at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12, broadcast by Stadium on Facebook. UNT then hosts Middle Tennessee at 3 p.m. on Oct. 19 in a game broadcast on Stadium. North Texas then travels to take on Charlotte at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+ on Oct. 26, while the Mean Green host UTEP on Nov. 2 on NFL Network at 3:30 p.m., and travel to Ruston, Louisiana, on Nov. 9 to take on Louisiana Tech which will be broadcast by Stadium on Facebook at 3 p.m., before the second bye week of the season. UNT then travels to Houston on Nov. 23 to do battle with Rice at 2:30 p.m. on NFL Network, and concludes the regular season by hosting the defending C-USA champion, UAB at 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 live on Stadium.
The 2019 C-USA Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 7 will air on CBS Sports Network at 1:30 p.m. CT.
ESPN is scheduled to carry all six of C-USA's bowl games in which it has a guaranteed selection.
The Mean Green return nine offensive starters and six defensive starters from one of the most successful teams in school history. In 2018, North Texas won nine games for the second consecutive season, which was only the eighth time in 103 years of playing football that a team won nine games, and only the second time in back-to-back seasons (1977-78). Head coach Seth Littrell will begin his fourth season in 2019 after leading North Texas to bowl games in each of his first three years in Denton.
