WBB Releases ‘19-20 Non-Conference Schedule

DENTON - North Texas women's basketball released its 2019-20 non-conference schedule, featuring seven regular season home contests and a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, to compete in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.
"Our schedule is complete and we look forward to introducing our fans to our new faces and competing in a way that makes them proud to be Mean Green," head coach Jalie Mitchell said.
The Mean Green will host Denton's Texas Woman's (Division II) in an exhibition November 3 before the regular season commences with four straight contests inside The Super Pit. Mid-America Christian (NAIA) will be UNT's opponent November 7, followed by Alcorn State November 11, UT Arlington November 15 and Xavier University of Louisiana (NAIA) November 20.
"Our home opener is against a familiar opponent in MACU, which won 25 games last season and played for a national championship," Mitchell said. "We also host two opponents of old in ULL and ULM. We've had some great battles over the years and that is sure to continue. We also love having that Metroplex opponent to keep things interesting. We host UTA, a very talented squad which won the Sun Belt Conference regular season and participated in the 2019 WNIT."
North Texas travels to CSU Bakersfield November 26 and will then take part in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown hosted by Hawaii. North Texas will face the host team along with formidable opponents Texas and NC State November 29-December 1. The Longhorns finished the 2018-19 season 23-10 with an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, while the Wolfpack concluded last season at 28-6 and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen.
"Our true road games include returns to Cal State Bakersfield and Utah State, which both challenged and prepared us in a great way last season," Mitchell said. We hope our fans will join us for Thanksgiving as we travel to Hawaii to play the host team, as well as Texas and NC State, our two highest ranking opponents on the schedule which both competed in the 2019 NCAA Tournament."
UNT returns home for a matchup versus Louisiana December 7 before traveling to Utah State December 16. Louisiana-Monroe comes to Denton December 20, and Texas A&M-Texarkana (NAIA) will contend against the Mean Green inside The Pit December 29.
"This season will be a fun one," Mitchell said. "Be sure to get your season tickets as we'll give you seven opportunities to catch us in action in non-conference play. As we continue to build champions and prepare leaders, we need you there to support us every step of the way."
