TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Senior wide receiver Rico Bussey, Jr. was selected to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Thursday.
Â
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding FBS receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver. The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award national selection committee, a group of college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers. For a list of voters, see BiletnikoffAward.com/voters.
Â
The Lawton, Oklahoma, native posted one of the best receiving seasons in program history. He caught 68 passes for 1,017 yards (15.0 yards per reception) and 12 touchdowns (which tied for eighth most in FBS) in 12 appearances in 2018. Bussey was also a first-team All-Conference USA selection last season and was named to the 2019 preseason all-conference team by the league's head coaches. Bussey, Jr. was also a member of the Biletnikoff watch list in 2018.
Â
The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 12, 2019, on The Home Depot College Football Awards to be broadcast 6 - 8 p.m. (CST) on ESPN.
