Fine Named to Unitas Golden Arm Watch List

BALTIMORE - North Texas quarterback Mason Fine was named to the watch list for the 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Monday. The award is presented annually to the top senior or fourth-year junior quarterback set to graduate with their class by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.
The Peggs, Oklahoma, native enters his fourth season as a starter as the FBS' active national leader in career passing yards (9,417) and is the two-time reigning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year. He leads a Mean Green offense that has averaged 35.1 points per game over the last two seasons.
Fine threw for 3,793 yards, 27 touchdowns to just five interceptions, completed 64.6% of his passes and added two more scores on the ground in 2018.

Fine enters his senior campaign as a member of several national award watch lists: the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Davey O'Brien, Maxwell, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose and was named the Conference USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Mean Green open the 2019 season with a white-out game against Abilene Christian on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 6:30 p.m. from Apogee Stadium.
