Skopal Named Conference USA Setter of the Week

IRVING – The conference office announced Monday North Texas setter Kaliegh Skopal is the Setter of the Week in Conference USA. The honor comes after a 3-0 weekend at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Abilene Christian.
Skopal averaged 15.1 assists per set in nine sets played, setting new season highs for assists in three-set matches in each match played. Skopal started the weekend off with 39 assists against Cal State Fullerton before 48 assists against Abilene Christian. Skopal ended the weekend with 49 assists against Prairie View A&M, the most she's had since she posted 51 against Tulsa on Aug. 31.
She finished the weekend with a double-double against Prairie View, also picking up a season-high 11 digs. It is Skopal's first conference honor, and the first Setter of the Week award to go to North Texas since Week 1 of last season when Karley York was awarded the weekly honor.
The Mean Green return home to play Kansas State, New Mexico and Ohio University in the North Texas Challenge Sept. 19-21. Tickets are available here. UNT students get in free with student ID.
