DENTON — After a convincing 74-56 win over Florida International on Thursday at the Super Pit, the North Texas men's basketball team hosts Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Mean Green (8-8, 2-1 C-USA) are 12-6 all-time versus the Owls (11-5, 3-0 C-USA).
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Kyle Youmans and Hank Dickenson on the call. It can also be heard on the Mean Green Sports Network (88.1 KNTU, 95.3 KHYI) or on the tuneIN app. The voice of the Mean Green will have the call.
The Mean Green have held their last two opponents — Marshall and FIU —who were top 75 offenses in the nation to season-low scoring outputs, including holding the Panthers on Thursday to 26 points below their scoring average. FAU enters Saturday's game averaging 72.2 points per game.
IMPRESSIVE DEFENSE
North Texas has held its last two opponents (Marshall and FIU) to season low scoring outputs. Both schools ranked in the top 75 in the nation in scoring offenses and were averaging 77+ points per game when they played UNT. Furthermore, the 56 points they held FIU to on Thursday was the fewest points the Panthers have ever scored under second- year head coach Jeremy Ballard. In fact, UNT is the only team who has held FIU to under 60 points in the Ballard era and they've done it twice. They beat FIU
in the first round of the 2019 C-USA Tournament 71-57.

Following Thursday's win, KenPom.com ranked North Texas 112th in the nation. It's the Mean Green's highest ranking under third-year head coach Grant McCasland. KenPom's rankings go back to 2002 and the highest UNT has ever finished a season was 133rd after the 2007-08 season.

After scoring 16 points in the sea- son-opener on 11/5, Thomas Bell didn't score in double figures in the next 10 consecutive games and averaged just 4.0 points per game during that 10-game stretch. However, he has scored in double figures in each of the last five games and has averaged 11.4 points per game.
