Aune Named Manning Award Star of the Week

NEW ORLEANS - North Texas redshirt sophomore quarterback Austin Aune (Argyle) was named as one of eight members of the Manning Award Star of the Week list for his performance Friday in the win over UTEP to close the regular season.
Aune came on beginning with the second series of the game and was phenomenal for the Mean Green. He completed 16-29 passes for 302 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions. He also carried five times for 22 yards and another touchdown in the win. Aune also helped senior receiver Jaelon Darden break two more career program records, connecting with him eight times for 173 yards and four touchdowns. Aune had touchdown passes of 75, 50, 46, 32 and 2 yards in the win.

Each week during the 2020 season, the Allstate Sugar Bowl selects eight Manning Award Stars of the Week. Following those selections, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the overall Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. The Sugar Bowl has had the opportunity to recognize 73 different quarterbacks from 66 schools as Manning Award Stars of the Week in 2020. Since 2011, 424 quarterbacks from 129 schools have been honored.
