DENTON —  Just two days after a dominating second-half performance on Tuesday in their 81-56 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff, the Mean Green are back in action Thursday night at the Super Pit.
Â
The North Texas men's basketball team, which has won 13 of its last 14 home games dating back to last season, is scheduled to host Houston Baptist on Thursday for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Mean Green (2-3) and Huskies (1-5) have not played one another since Feb. 15, 2010. UNT has won the last three meetings.
Â
The Mean Green on Tuesday ended a three-game skid by outscoring UAPB 45-24 in the second-half to pull away with the 25-point victory. Seniors Zachary Simmons and Javion Hamlet along with junior Terence Lewis II combined for 27 of the Mean Green's 45 second-half points.
Â
With the win head coach Grant McCasland became the sixth winningest coach in program-history, surpassing his predecessor Tony Bedford with 63 career wins at UNT. McCasland is aiming to become the first UNT men's basketball head coach in the program's 103-year history to win 20+ games in each of his first four years at the helm.
After Thursday's game the Mean Green will be right back into action on Saturday but this time on the road. The Mean Green travel to LSU for a 11 a.m. tip-off with the Tigers. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+ and the Mean Green Sports Network.

NEWS AND NOTES
- Under fourth-year head coach Grant McCasland, UNT is 28-5 versus opponents with a losing record. In the 2+ seasons since the start of the 2018-19 season, the Mean Green are 21-1 versus opponents with a losing record. The one loss was on Feb.1, 2020 at Rice, 84-75.
- Junior Mardrez McBride's .625 (10-16) 3-point field goal percentage is tied for the fourth highest in the nation among players who have made at least 10 3-pointers and average two 3-pointers per game.
- UNT drew one charge versus Arkansas Pine Bluff on Tuesday. On the year, the Mean Green have drawn 12 charges and at least one in every game. Thomas Bell and Terence Lewis II lead the team with 4 charges drawn each. He led the team last year 15 drawn charges. Bell claims that he never drew a charge prior to coming to UNT. Drawing charges is a huge characteristic of North Texas and head coach Grant McCasland's "Toughest Team Wins" mantra. UNT drew 53 charges all of last year.
- Senior Zachary Simmons is one point away from his 900th career point.
