Big Week Ahead For Mean Green Athletics

DENTON – A big week for North Texas athletics awaits Mean Green fans in Denton, with several events and promotions taking place across all sports.
The men's basketball team, which currently sits in first place in Conference USA, hosts Charlotte on Thursday night at 7 p.m. presented by First United Bank, when fans can enjoy '90s Night and the first 500 students will receive a special '90s Night T-shirt. Also, for $25, fans will receive a special "Galentine's Night" package, which includes a game ticket, a commemorative wine glass, two glasses of wine and a box of chocolates. Also on Thursday night, the Mean Green Scholarship Fund is hosting a Mean Green football coaches meet-and-greet from 6-7 p.m., in the concourse of The Super Pit near Gate A.
On Saturday, when the men's basketball team hosts Old Dominion at 1 p.m., for a nationally televised game on ESPNU, fans will enjoy Arcade Day with a free arcade opening at noon between Gates A and B at The Super Pit. The game will also mark Senior Day for the Mean Green, with the program's three seniors - DJ Draper, Deng Geu and Roosevelt Smart - being honored before the game. North Texas basketball letterwinners will also be recognized before the game, and all fans, age 12 and under, will be granted free admission if they are wearing a basketball jersey.
For both men's basketball games, students from both TWU and NCTC can purchase special $5 tickets.
The Mean Green softball team, which opened its season last weekend and notched a road win over No. 10 Louisiana Lafayette, is 4-1 and hosting a tournament this weekend with play beginning Friday night against Creighton. The Mean Green play two games Saturday and one on Sunday to wrap up the tournament.
Women's tennis also has two home matches this week, as they host Louisiana Tech on Friday and UTEP on Sunday, which will be Hungarian Culture Day at the Waranch Tennis Complex to honor senior Alexandra Heczey, who is from Budapest.
