DENTON - The UNT women's golf program is on the brink of program history, thanks to a remarkable turnaround since head coach Michael Akers arrived four years ago. At that time, the team's national ranking was in the 200s, but in each of Akers' seasons in Denton he's seen that number improve exponentially. In the latest GolfStat national poll, the Mean Green are ranked No. 57 with their eyes set on the top 50 to not only solidify them as an NCAA tournament team but also to break the program record for best season-ending ranking of 50th, set in 2011.
