DENTON – North Texas Athletics has announced the hiring of Elizabeth Woerle as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Development. Woerle will focus on major gift acquisitions for the Mean Green Scholarship Fund.
"We had a great pool of candidates and Liz quickly rose to the top," Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development Carl Evans said. "We are extremely excited to add someone with such a broad range of experience in intercollegiate athletics. Liz has been a student-athlete, coach and athletics administrator and I believe her story will resonate with our donors."
Woerle arrives in Denton after serving as the Assistant Director of Development and Major Gift Officer at Miami University of Ohio, where she assisted in helping the Miami University Athletic Department complete an $80 million Graduating Champions Campaign. She also managed a portfolio of 75 donors, closing over $600,000 from six major gift commitments, each above $50,000.
"I am truly grateful to join the Mean Green family," Woerle said. "The opportunity to work under Carl's [Evans} leadership, paired with the vision and leadership of Wren Baker, is one I could not pass up. I look forward to serving the UNT donors and alums and continuing to help provide student-athletes with a first-class experience on and off the field."
Before her time in Oxford, Ohio, Woerle was the Stewardship Coordinator at the University of South Carolina. She oversaw special events for the Gamecock Club that included football game day hospitality, National Signing Day, Hall of Fame induction, coaches' dinners and ribbon cutting events.
Before her experience in development, Woerle was an assistant coach for the Ohio University women's soccer team from 2013-2016. She was instrumental in helping the Bobcats earn National Soccer Coaches Association of American Team Academic honors all three years.
Woerle played soccer at Drake from 2006-2010, where she became a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference pick and helped her team advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2006. Woerle graduated from Drake with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing before obtaining her Master of Sports Administration from Ohio in 2016.
