Trautwein Picks up Second C-USA Weekly Honor

DALLAS – After another phenomenal week, junior Hope Trautwein picked up Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the week honors, the league office announced Monday.

During her three appearances this past week, Trautwein struck out 30 hitters while only allowing two earned runs on eight hits across 18.1 innings pitched. She also held no. 4 Texas to their lowest run output against a pitcher across 8.0 innings in Austin on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

The highlight of the week came on Feb. 21 when the Pflugerville native set a career-high, program-high and Conference USA high with 21 strikeouts against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The 21 strikeout performance also allowed her to become just the third player in program history to amass 400 career strikeouts.

Trautwein allowed just one extra base hit during her three outings and finished with a weekly ERA of 0.76, dropping her season ERA to 0.63. She is only allowing opponents to hit at a .131 clip across eight appearances and sits at a 6-1 record on the season.

North Texas softball returns home for a midweek matchup with UT Arlington on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
