Mean Green Take On Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tennessee — With still eight more remaining regular season conference games, the Mean Green men's basketball team is just one win shy of surpassing last season's league win total (8). They can do so with a win on Thursday at Middle Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Furthermore, North Texas (14-9, 8-2) can remain in first place of the Conference USA standings with a win on Thursday at the Murphy Center. It'd be UNT's first victory over the Blue Raiders (6-17, 2-8) in Murfreesboro since the 2009 season.
Thursday's game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network (95.3 FM). It can also be found on the tuneIN app.
BEST LEAGUE START IN PROGRAM HISTORY
North Texas' 8-2 conference record is tied with the 1988-89 team for best 10-game start to league play in program history. Since moving to the NCAA ranks in 1957, UNT has never started conference 9-2.

In league play, redshirt junior Javion Hamlet leads C-USA in assists (59), assists per game (5.9) and assist/turnover ratio (2.8). He's also sixth in league scoring (16.6 points per game).

North Texas is shooting 39.5 percent from deep. It's the seventh-best 3-point field goal percentage in the nation as of Tuesday and the best in C-USA.
OFFENSIVE WEAPON
North Texas' DJ Draper is used in less than 12 percent of all of UNT offensive possessions when he's on the floor. However when he is used, KenPom says his Offensive Rating is 133.4, which is the fourth highest in the nation. An offensive rating is the number of points produced by a player per hundred total individual possessions. An offensive rating is a complex formula developed by basketball analytics author Dean Oliver published in his book Basketball on Paper.
CAREER HIGH
North Texas' DJ Draper scored a season-high 18 points on Saturday at Rice by making a career-high six 3-pointers. He made his first five 3-point attempts and finished 6-of-7.

North Texas' Javion Hamlet has an assist rate of 35.2, which means he's assisted on 35.2 percent of all Mean Green field goals that happened when he was on the court. Hamlet's assist rate ranks first in Conference USA and is 31st in the nation. as of Tuesday. Hamlet is the only C-USA player inside the top 100 in the nation. In conference play his assist rate is 36.1.

A win on Thursday would be the Mean Green's fourth road conference win of the year. They had three all of last year.
