DENTON — North Texas men's basketball head coach Grant McCasland was named National Association of Basketball Coaches District 11 Coach of the Year. Guard Javion Hamlet was voted NABC First Team All-District 11 and Umoja Gibson was voted second team.

He is the first UNT men's basketball coach to be named a league coach of the year since 1989.
Hamlet, the 2020 C-USA Player of the Year, led C-USA in league play in assists, assists per game, assist/turnover ratio, free throw percentage and was fourth in scoring and 11th in field goal percentage.
The point guard who averaged 17.9 points per game in conference became UNT's (20-11, 14-4 C-USA) closer as the team put the ball in his hands to seal victories late in games.
He was the first UNT men's basketball player to be voted a league player of the year since 1989.
Gibson joined Hamlet on the all-district honor list after averaging 14.5 points per game and making 86 3-pointers. He's moved into the top 3 in program history for career 3-pointers. Gibson was named second team all-conference after the season. Three times this year Gibson made at least five 3-pointers in a game. He had 14 games with at least three made 3-pointers.
