Position Group Breakdowns: Offensive Line
4/13/2020 5:31:00 PM | Football
DENTON – The Mean Green offensive line is looking to take a leap in 2020 under new leadership in co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Mike Bloesch. We take a deep dive into the offensive line room in this edition of position group breakdowns.
"The transition to UNT has been unbelievable for my family and I. I am so excited to be at the premier university in Conference USA. The administration, staff, facilities and support for our student-athletes at UNT is incredible.
"Obviously I was really looking forward to getting on the field with the o-line group this spring to truly evaluate each and every guy in the room. I was very pleased with the effort and attitude of our players through winter conditioning and their understanding of the new offensive schemes we are implementing. We are continuing to build on that development even while we are away from each other. We know that we must be dominant up front to accomplish our goals this fall.
"Jacob Brammer and Manase Mose will continue to lead the room just as they have for a while around here, but I anticipate a lot of guys stepping up and accepting their new roles once we return to campus."
Outgoing:
Five members of the offensive line from last season's roster have moved on, all of which graduated and exhausted their eligibility. Four of those saw significant time as starters in 2019, and the other made one start, so certainly a ton of experience is on its way out.
Four-year starter Elex Woodworth started 45 games out of his 48 career appearances for the Mean Green, spending time at both tackle and guard throughout his career. Woodworth's versatility and athleticism will certainly be missed by the Mean Green moving forward.
Sosaia Mose, who was the team's starting center Sosaia Mose for three seasons provided stability at a key position, appearing in 37 games, starting 35 of them dating back to 2017.
D'Andre Plantin spent one season in Denton, following his transfer from Virginia Tech and battled injury, while appearing in eight games, all starts for the Mean Green in 2019, primarily at left tackle.
Thomas Preston III appeared in all 12 games in 2019, starting eight, and over his two seasons in Denton, Preston made 17 appearances and nine starts as an interior lineman. Preston provided nice depth along the interior following his transfer from Scottsdale Community College.
Chandler Anthony decided to leave the program during this offseason with one season of eligibility remaining, but he does leave Denton with his degree. The Tuttle, Oklahoma, native made 27 appearances and one start throughout his career. He spent the majority of his time at tackle and was a fixture on the field goal/PAT protect unit.
New Faces:
There are five new faces with the program, including two who arrived on campus in January and three that will join the program in the fall.
#64 Anterrious Gray – redshirt junior – Macon, Mississippi (Northwest Mississippi CC)

Gray helped pave the way for 2,830 rushing yards for Northwest Mississippi CC in 2019, while helping the Rangers ro the MACJC championship game. As a freshman in 2018, Gray started all 10 games.
"I'm looking forward to my opportunity to take the field with UNT in the fall. I wasn't highly recruited coming out of junior college, so I'm very appreciative of the opportunity that the coaching staff has given me. Regarding the other offensive lineman [on the team], we've become a family in the last couple of months. We were in the process of forming that bond that is needed to work well together on the field."
#52 Dane Jackson – freshman – Berea, Kentucky (Madison Southern HS)
Jackson, like Gray, arrived on campus in January and was also rated a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite ranking system, as well as ESPN. As a senior at Madison Southern High School, Jackson was a Kentuckypreps All-State selection and across his high school career, made a school record 51 starts.
"I feel like we have a great opportunity in our team to have a huge advantage over other teams. I feel like we have the guys on our team that will take it upon themselves to get better even with limited resources [during this pandemic]. It's a weird situation with an opportunity that can be very positive for our team in an earning a competitive advantage. I feel like we have all gotten pretty close with Coach [Mike] Bloesch. Even though we haven't had spring ball, I still feel like I've learned a lot from him already. Manase Mose has been a very good leader and that will help out with the whole offensive line group."

Erik Williams – freshman (arriving in the fall) – Lubbock, Texas (Coronado HS)
Williams was the Mean Green's highest-rated prospect in their 2020 signing class, according to 247Sports, which was the top class in the cycle in Conference USA according to the publication. Williams is the sixth-highest rated player that the Mean Green have signed since the site has been ranking prospects. The service ranked him as the No. 61 offensive tackle prospect in the country. Returners:
#72 Manase Mose – redshirt junior – Euless, Texas (Trinity HS)

A Conference USA All-Freshman team selection in 2018, Mose started all 13 games that season as well, giving him 25 career starts. Mose provides a very physical presence for the Mean Green on the interior of the offensive line and will again be a key fixture in a group that is looking to take the next step in its development.
#56 Jacob Brammer – redshirt junior – Richmond, Texas (Foster HS)
Brammer started all nine games he appeared in at right tackle during the 2019 season before suffering an injury that kept him out of the final three games. Like Mose, Brammer has ascended to a leadership role heading into 2020. Brammer, who measures at 6'4" and 280 pounds, made seven appearances in 2018 (four of which were starts) and is expected to take another leap individually as the group attempts to do the same.
"The opportunities are endless for this group. We have a lot of young guys with a lot of experience around them and we are starting to click on all cylinders. The bond that we all had last year is only getting better as we move on to this upcoming season. Even though we can't be [in Denton] right now, Coach [Mike] Bloesch is doing a good job of setting up meetings and just keeping us all connected and up to date. The strengths of our group is what I stated earlier, we have a lot of experience in this room and we can all play multiple positions on the line. That helps out a ton as we can be mentors to the new guys and make sure there's no drop off if someone ever has to come out."
#71 Brian Parish – redshirt junior – Arlington, Texas (Seguin HS)
Parish made 10 appearances in 2019 for the Mean Green in a variety of roles – spending time at a couple of positions on the offensive line, and also played a role on the field goal protect team. Measuring at 6'4" and 270 pounds, Parish's athleticism provides a great option at tackle for UNT as they break in a new signal-caller.
"I feel like this could be the most all-around offensive line we have had in a long time. Even with seniors like Elex [Woodworth] and Sosaia [Mose] leaving, there are people filling their roles that have been in the program for years. Even in this strange time, Coach Bloesch has done the best job possible to continue our development in the new system by utilizing Zoom and having meetings and film. I honestly can't wait for the season to start because nobody has us picked to be the strongest unit on the team, but I feel we will definitely come out on top by the end of the season, which should lead to some success."
