Townley Honored For Community Service Efforts

DALLAS – Madison Townley of North Texas women's basketball has been selected as a 2020 C-USA Winter Spirit of Service Award Honoree as announced by the league office Tuesday.
The award honors 14 student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing winter sports: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field and women's swimming & diving.
Townley is a leader for the Mean Green on and off the court. The redshirt junior forward is an active representative in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at North Texas. Townley played a large role in organizing UNT's first Week of Service last fall in which her team saw 100% participation and completed over 30 hours of service. Townley is also an active volunteer with the Denton Food Pantry and the Denton Hunger Coalition.
Academically, the Duncanville native has earned C-USA Honor Roll distinction five consecutive semesters and made the Dean's List for the Fall 2018 semester.
On the court, Townley has been a key contributor to program for the past three seasons. In 2019-20, she started 23 of 25 games played and averaged 5.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals. She pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds on two occasions this season and dished out a career-high four assists twice.
