A Year In Waiting…Rochelle Lee

DENTON – Rochelle Lee joins the Mean Green after beginning her collegiate career at Chattanooga and appearing in 55 games for the Mocs with 14 starts in two seasons.
As a sophomore, Lee started a dozen contests and contributed 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds. The Memphis, Tennessee, native scored a career-high 11 points versus N.C. State and collected seven rebounds against Northern Colorado. As a freshman, Lee played 19 minutes in her first collegiate start against Samford. She scored six points off the bench at N.C. State by shooting 3-of-5 and grabbed a season-high five rebounds against UNCG.
The 6-3 forward has two years of eligibility remaining with the Mean Green after redshirting last season.
"The most difficult part about sitting out last year was not being able to play with my teammates and not being able to help them on the court," Lee said.
"The benefits were being able to see how my teammates play and learning the offense. Being able to just sit out and watch gave me a new perspective of the game and much more respect, which will really benefit me this upcoming season, because it's like a new attitude coming in about the game.
"Rochelle is an agile forward whose versatility gives us plenty of options offensively," head coach Jalie Mitchell said. "Her length and defensive presence add weapons that opponents will have to game plan for. She is full of potential! We look forward to watching her in action as she works to make a name for herself in Conference USA."
"I can't wait to see my mommy and family in the crowd watching me play and cheering me on; it really makes me happy knowing they can be there now. Also, I look forward to getting some rings and banners for the program, building new relationships, and learning even more about the game," Lee said.
