Bean on Manning Award Star of the Week List

NEW ORLEANS - North Texas redshirt sophomore quarterback Jason Bean (Mansfield, Texas) was named as one of eight members of the Manning Award Star of the Week list for his performance Saturday in the record-setting 57-31 win over Houston Baptist to open the 2020 season.
Bean completed 11-18 passes for 217 yards with three touchdowns and also carried three times for 48 yards and another touchdown in his first career start. The Mean Green rolled up a program-record 721 yards of total offense, and exhibited tremendous balance, passing for 361 and rushing for 360 yards, respectively. It marked the first game in program history for UNT to have at least 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing in the same game. Bean was unflappable in the early-going, starting 8-13 for 161 yards and three scores to push North Texas out to a commanding 20-0 lead.Â

Each week during the 2020 season, the Allstate Sugar Bowl will select eight Manning Award Stars of the Week. Following those selections, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the overall Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. Seventy-one players from 65 different schools were honored during the 2019 season and 377 different quarterbacks from 127 schools have been recognized since 2011.
