DENTON — North Texas volleyball looks to keep their four game conference winning streak alive this weekend when they visit UAB for a pair of matches on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
About the Mean Green: North Texas (11-8, 4-2) has rattled off four straight conference wins over the last two weeks. They've also won four of their last five overall, the lone loss coming at home to #12 Baylor on Wednesday, October 6.
Senior outside hitter Rhett Robinson has continued to lead the Mean Green offensive attack. She crossed over the 300 kill mark for the season in last Saturday's win over Southern Miss, marking the third time in her career she's had at least 300 kills in a season. She has 308 kills overall on the year, and is averaging 5.13 kills per set.
Graduate setter Kaliegh Skopal returned to action last weekend after missing time with an injury. She crossed over the 400 assist mark for the season in Saturday's win over Southern Miss, putting up a 41 assist performance in the victory. She's now had at least 24 assists in all but three games she's played this season, and leads North Texas with a 9.11 assist per set average as well.
Other Mean Green leaders: Sarah Haeussler efficiency continues to be on another level. The senior middle blocker carries a .362 hitting percentage on the season, the highest on the team, to go with her 149 kills this year. In addition, she also still leads North Texas with 85 total blocks, nearly double the second-closest to her on the team.
Scouting the Blazers: UAB also comes into this weekend's matches with a 4-2 record in conference play, but sit at 8-8 on the season. Their most recent matchup was a split against UTSA, losing the first match 3-0 but rebounding to win the second contest 3-1. Like most teams, the Blazers have played better at home than on the road, sporting a 4-3 record in Birmingham compared to a 4-5 record when outside of their home city.
Where to watch: Both matches will be streamed live on CUSA.tv.
